Dr. Alan L. Hymowitz

spanish-speaking-eye-doctorDr. Alan L. Hymowitz is a highly experienced and respected board certified optometrist practicing in Atlanta for the past 25 years. Dr. Hymowitz received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Music from the State University of New York, and he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from State University of New York College of Optometry. He began his professional career in New Orleans, Louisiana, and after seven years moved to Atlanta to establish Lenox Eye Associates. Dr.Hymowitz specializes in the treatment and management of ocular diseases including cataracts, dry eye syndrome, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, keratoconnus and ocular trauma. He also specializes in the co-management of patients before and after ocular surgical procedures including Lasik, PRK, multifocal implants, pterygium removal,and corneal transplants. Additionally Dr. Hymowitz is a contact lens specialist and has extensive experience in fitting “hard to fit” patients that have a myriad complications such as dry eyes, sever astigmatism, presbyopia, post refractive surgery corneas, and keratoconnus. Being fluent in Spanish, Dr. Hymowitz has created the largest bilingual optometry practice in the Atlanta area. Dr. Hymowitz has been an active volunteer in the OneSight Foundation and has participated in 10 overseas volunteer eye missions in such exotic places as Laos, Cambodia, Tunisia and Bolivia, to name a few. He has also participated in local volunteer projects to help Atlanta’s underprivileged schoolchildren with free vision care. Additionally, he has been a volunteer big brother for over two years.

Dr. Rikti Patel

She grew up in Georgia and attended Stephens County High School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from University of Georgia in 2006. She then attended University of Alabama School of Optometry in Birmingham, Alabama, where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree in May 2010. She received training in primary eye care, ocular disease, contact lens, pediatrics, and geriatric care in nursing home settings and veteran’s hospital. She did her internships at Georgia Eye Partners, Tuscaloosa VA Hospital in Alabama, and Horizon Eye Care in Houston, TX. While in optometry school, she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society. She is certified by the State Board of Examiners in Optometry to treat and manage ocular disease. She is a member of the Greater Atlanta Optometric Association, National Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association and American Optometric Association. Dr. Patel provides care for patients with ocular diseases including macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, uveitis, diabetic retinopathy, and hypertensive retinopathy. She also provides complete ocular health examinations as well as contact lens fittings
